This mixed use residential project explores the potential adaptive re-use of the old Heidelberg Brewery site in Downtown Tacoma. Stephen Day led the team and acted as developer and architect for the project, bringing the project into early schematic design, feasibility analysis and tax credit analysis. This project was envisioned to include innovative residential housing arrangements in the restored shell of this robust mid-century concrete loft structure, with green roof design, pedestrian connection to the UW Tacoma campus through the development of the Downtown public trail system - plus restoration of the iconic Brewery water tower, of course. Alas, the owners eventually opted to demolish this structure - one of our rare projects that slipped away...
